Raphael: Her father, and the most important person in the world to Amy. She would literally do anything for him. Despite the fact that he's not the nicest (or sanest) of men, she takes great pride in the way she takes after him--even if she does find him to be a tad overprotective at times. (Not that she can talk, exactly; she's just as protective of him as he is of her when you get down to it.) Even though they aren't related by blood, Amy doesn't really think of him as her foster father. He's her family--period.

Ark: Amy's--gasp--boyfriend! She developed a crush on him soon after meeting him, due to how sweetly he treated her despite her strange eyes. Before then, most people were scared or hostile toward her because of them... After quite a bit of awkwardly dancing around the subject, they became an official couple a little while ago. Very nearly as important to her as Raphael is, and if you hurt him, watch out--she's just as protective of him as she is her father.

C.C.: Probably Amy's only friend as of right now. They met when C.C. saved her after she was injured and stranded away from shelter by a Splicer, so Amy's gratitude toward her instantly lowered some of the emotional walls she usually keeps up. Her quiet personality meshes well with Amy's, and--secretly--she admires here maturity.

Namine: Amy's not really sure what to think of this girl yet--she seems very sweet, but as usual she's on guard as they've only just met... Still, it seems like they could possibly become friends in the future.

Bridget: Amy has a lot of mixed emotions toward Bridget. On the one hand, she finds he optimism hopelessly naïve and his energy a little overwhelming. On the other... she's envious of him for being able to be so happy and content all the time. All in all, he makes her uncomfortable.

I-no: Amy doesn't like I-no at all, but due to her relationship with her father, she... tolerates her. Barely. Ironically, it's that same relationship that makes her so hostile toward the witch in the first place... Generally speaking, Amy copes with her feelings toward I-no by being as far away from her as possible at any given time.

Siegfried: The anti-Raphael, in terms of Amy's feelings toward him. She really and truly hates him with everything she has for the way he hurt her father, and given half a chance she would repay him with the business end of her rapier.

{ qui peut prétendre }

Amy is a slight girl, and is often mistaken for someone younger than she is. Small and wisp-like, she has thin, graceful limbs. She’s quite pale, and her choice of dark colors in her wardrobe causes her to appear almost sickly at times. Her hair is an attractive ginger color, and she keeps it curled and usually in two tails. Her face has a look of cold elegance.

The most noticeable thing about her is her eyes. Due to Soul Edge’s taint, they are a dull reddish magenta color. Framed by long lashes, their original color is a bright green (which they will revert to, should she ever be purified).

She also has a long scar on her left leg, stretching from the outside of her ankle to about halfway up her calf. It was acquired while she was still living on the street, and she keeps it covered out of embarrassment.

{ je voudrais retrouver l'innocence }

The first thing that's usually immediately apparent about Amy is how cold she is. It's hard to mistake her taciturn nature for shyness or self-esteem issues, as she manages to communicate her disdain for others perfectly well even without words. Arrogant and haughty, she dislikes interacting with others, considering them to be beneath her. Very rarely does she so much as show emotions to anyone below her level, much less share her thoughts and opinions. She feels and believes just as strongly as anyone else--she just has trouble outwardly expressing this to people she isn't wholly attached to.

Once one manages to get past this initial level of ice, however, Amy has something of a playful side to her personality. Unfortunately, this mood typically comes at the expense of others. She has a tendency to mock and bait those she perceives as not measuring up to her level, particularly where fighting is concerned--and just assumes others are 'losers' until they prove otherwise. Vain and full of herself, she has nearly infinite confidence in her abilities. Not unrelated is her tendency to be a sore loser; when bested, she can sulk about it for more than a week.

At her core, Amy is basically a spoiled, selfish brat. She cannot stand not getting her own way, and the needs of others have basically no influence on what she desires. When she wants something, there is very little she will not stoop to in order to receive it. Cheating, lying, theft, and murder have little effect on her conscience, and just about the only thing she refuses to do under any circumstance is throw a temper tantrum. She has too much pride for such a display, especially when she is so capable of finding alternatives.

It helps that she is generally shrewd and resourceful, unfettered by any sense of morals that would hold her back from taking full advantage of what she has at her disposal. Often times, she will pretend to be helpless and weak in order to manipulate others, either into acting on her behalf or letting their guard down enough for her to gain the upper hand. Along these same lines, she is very observant of her surroundings, always looking for little things that could be used to swing the situation one way or the other.

Amy also has a tendency to hold grudges, so when she can't have her way, she will remember whose fault this is and make sure they pay for it at some point. She can be very malicious toward anyone she possesses any kind of ill will towards; though she will not go out of her way to spite them--she thinks that awards them too much importance--she will eagerly take the opportunity when it presents itself. Considering her high capacity for cruelty, this makes her a person most others would be better off not crossing.

Of course, if one manages--somehow--to grow close to her, her behavior around them shifts dramatically. She becomes fiercely loyal to them, and will aggressively support and protect them against any perceived threat. Possessive and jealous though not clingy, anything said to her will immediately be taken into consideration, and she will make any changes to herself that are necessary for them to consider her a valuable person. Generally speaking, she is obedient and even eager to carry out orders on a loved one's behalf.

{ je cherche une âme qui pourra m'aider }

Amy was born to a lower class family in Rouen, France during the late 1500s. She lived a relatively normal life for a girl of her age and economic situation--difficult, but not entirely desolate--until around the time she turned seven. At that point, her father contracted an unknown illness. It spread to her mother, and before long both her parents took a rather drastic turn for the worse. With no other family to take her in after their deaths, she was forced onto the streets, needing to beg and steal to survive.

The young girl did what she could to make the best of her situation, but it was hard. Making things worse were the soldiers that occupied and patrolled the city. Amy found them to be openly cruel toward herself and others in her situation, and they often hindered her attempts to find food in whatever way she could. To get back at them, she frequently took whatever swipes she could when opportunities presented themselves. This behavior eventually led to the second major turning point of her life.

Three years after losing her parents, Amy stumbled across a man fleeing from the soldiers. In spite, she told him where to hide and then gave the soldiers misdirection, granting the man the opportunity to escape. However, he didn't feel the city alone--this man was Raphael Sorel, and in thanks for the way she had helped him, he took her with him, adopting her as his daughter and declaring he would make a better life for her.

She quickly grew to care for this man as if he was her own flesh and blood. After fleeing Rouen, they took refuge with another noble Raphael new--with Raphael poisoning the man on the sly and taking over his estate once he was dead. For nearly four years, Amy and her new father lived in relative peace in that place. However, when rumors of the evil Soul Edge began to surface, Raphael decided on a rather drastic course of action.

He was going to leave and find the blade himself, having Amy remain in their home and be looked after by their servants while he was away. Once he had the weapon for himself, he would hide it away somewhere where it couldn't be found, and therefore could not be exploited by men full of greed and dangerous intentions. Though Amy was reluctant to be separated from him, she let him go after only a little bit of protest, figuring he knew best about what to do.

Some months passed before he returned home--empty-handed, injured, and barely alive. Amy, of course, was immediately at his side, refusing to leave or let anyone else care for him. She cleaned and bandaged his wounds, and watched over him while he was incapacitated. However, as it turned out there was something far more wrong with him than just his visible injuries.

His wounds had been inflicted by Soul Edge, and as such carried its tainted energy. This energy spread to Amy through Raphael's blood, and before long they had both undergone a strange and frightening transformation. They became little more than humanoid monsters--still in possession of their wits, but with a deep need to feed off of others' energy to sustain themselves. Normal humans were frightened by this change and began to shun the two--or, in some cases, became violent toward them.

In response, Raphael chose to withdraw from the world that they could no longer interact normally in. Leaving their old home, he and Amy traveled to Romania, where they found an old castle ruin. This castle was quickly claimed as their new home. In order to make the world a more suitable place for Amy to live in, Raphael began to spread their 'sickness' to the nearby towns and cities.

However, eventually, word of this 'curse' overtaking the countryside began to spread, and an army was gathered to combat its progress. Raphael was soon deduced to be the cause of the epidemic--not that he really took steps to hide it--and as such they zeroed in on the Sorels' castle, assuming that destroying the disease's progenitor would purify the rest of the area. In response, Raphael assembled his own forces and fought the army off.

Realizing he couldn't convert the rest of the world with only his own power, Raphael again decided to search for Soul Edge--this time intending to use it to augment his own powers, rather than for more altruistic reasons. However, the idea of leaving Amy alone in a hostile climate did not sit well with Raphael. After some deliberation, he chose to send her away to a school in a foreign land, where she would be safe in the event of another attack against their home.

{ si la mort est un mystère }

In spite of her delicate appearance, Amy is actually quite skilled in the use of her rapier. Small, quick, and agile, she’s a hard target to hit in battle, allowing her to dart in and out of attacking range without taking much damage herself. Her movements are graceful, and many even resemble steps of a dance. However, she has no exceptional skills aside from that, as is actually quite fragile when taking blows herself. Nonetheless, her vicious tenacity and generally surprising levels of skill make her one that shouldn’t be simply discounted in a fight.
